Money-Saving Discount Shopping
No matter how much money you earn in UAE, if you spend by convenience, you'd
always find your pocket empty. That’s why it is necessary to spend it wisely.
One way of doing that is by discount shopping. That is, every time you shop for
something, you have to shop for discounts first.
Do you remember the weekend discounts offered by many supermarkets printed on flyers and dropped at the lobbies of commercial and residential buildings? Have you tried to compare the prices of different stores and shops to get the lowest price? Yes you did on some items depending on the difference of savings. But if the difference was not that much you’ll have to ignore the price and shop on the same supermarket all items even if the ones in the other store/shop is cheaper.
The following are some reasons why we do what we do and when to do it next time we do discount shopping:
Do you remember the weekend discounts offered by many supermarkets printed on flyers and dropped at the lobbies of commercial and residential buildings? Have you tried to compare the prices of different stores and shops to get the lowest price? Yes you did on some items depending on the difference of savings. But if the difference was not that much you’ll have to ignore the price and shop on the same supermarket all items even if the ones in the other store/shop is cheaper.
The following are some reasons why we do what we do and when to do it next time we do discount shopping:
1. Discount Shop to stretch the money’s value
The majority think that their money’s value is the
same at a moment. You can prove it untrue if you shop with strategy. Your 1
Dirham would double in value at the same moment if you discount shop. Imagine
spending 500 Dhs in one shopping and bring home 1000 Dhs of items, doesn’t it
makes more than a lot of sense?
2. Discount Shop conveniently- less hopping
Shop hopping is key to shop for discounts and
sales. But if the difference of the desired savings is not significant in
exchange of the sacrificed inconvenience, then it’s better to shop nearby
especially if your shopping volume is limited. But if you shop for the whole
family, it’s still better to shop even if it would require a taxi ride.
3. Discount Shop efficiently- no long queue
Usually during “market day” the line of waiting is
quite long. But before it, you have made a long queue at the weighing station
for pricing of the wet market items. You pressed with the crowd until you
realized you missed some opportunities or responsibilities at home.
4. Discount Shop at the right time- stay
informed to save time
We wait for the promo and offer flyers to come by
at the entrance lobby of our buildings. Sometimes we visit other buildings to
ensure we don’t miss offer flyers or we would just go straight to any
supermarket without the information. But it’s not certain and could waste our
time if we arrive there without any discount offers. We know that some weekends
come without any discount offers and we don’t like going there uninvited
because it’s a waste of time. We discount shop only when we are certain we get
the savings that we expect.
5. Discount Shop strategically- outsmart the
shops
How smart are you to do discount shopping? The
exact opposite of discount shopping is “Shopping Spree”. Nothing is bad if
you’re sure you won’t run out of money when you need it. To avoid this, we need
to be reminded that offers are invitations to lure shoppers. When you forgot
this you’re vulnerable to shopping spree.
